In order to bring Doraemon to a new generation, save kids from dealing with years of backstory, and to let the voice actors retire from having voiced the same characters for over a couple decades, a new Doraemon anime was created and broadcast in 2005. By this point, censorship standards had gotten a lot more strict in the new era of anime, as what was acceptable for children years ago is not acceptable anymore. This is the reason Dragon Ball Super does not have much gore in it, as opposed to the earlier series. Even the 1989 and 90's anime Dragon Ball Z was censored comparatively in its recut in the late 2000's, Dragon Ball Kai. They're the same series, essentially, but Kai is allowed to do less than Z can despite the target age group not having changed a bit. (This does not apply to the English Dub of Read More »

Welcome to our next role reversal picture! I don't have much of these left, only a few comics and stuff. I'll try and populate my gallery with a bit more of these, though.
Today we look at a moment from Fairly OddParents, specifically the episode "Crime Wave". In that one, Timmy Turner, our main hero didn't want to take a bath, and would rather be at the comic store. So he asked his fairy godparents to poof him over there, which they did... without dressing him first. So he had to make his way across the town of Dinsdale without being detected, and failed numerous times due to hidden cameras, bad hiding places, all that stuff. That, and he got mistaken for the comic hero Naked Lad!
The setup for the below pic involves a new character, Chloe. She was introduced in Season 10 as someone who had to share the fairy godparents with Timmy, so naturally, she could be poofed out of the bath and forced to go on an adventure as Naked Read More »

I recently saw some nice Pokemon official art from a Drama CD. It helped me to realize Pokemon has a really nice art style that really lends itself well to this kind of thing. It's such a shame, then, that it's so kid-friendly since it means that this kinda thing is unlikely to happen. That's my reason for posting this: because the art style is just so appealing and this is probably one of the better fanarts in the style.

One of the most notable moments of nudity-related humor came all the way in the first season, with the episode "The Bare Facts." In that one, Mojo had attempted to become Mayor, so he had to strip the existing Mayor of... something, something which led the Girls to laugh and laugh. We got our answer at the end, where the Mayor had been shown to be stripped of more than his powers... in a very personal way.
Three seasons later, in the episode, "Nano of the North", nanobots invaded Townsville via raindrops to destroy everything made of carbon (except evidently people for some reason), including buildings, cars and clothing. So when the Girls tried to fight them at full size, they failed, and they had to return home naked. Unfortunately, a series which used to do episodes like "Down N' Dirty" unashamed now embraced cowardice and comparatively censored the Girls, with them covering their butts and their fronts hidden by the Professor's arm. One of the most influential directors in anime is Hayao Miyazaki. Miyazaki's been making films for a long time, and his studio, Studio Ghibli has had its films nominated for an Oscar numerous times, even winning with Spirited Away. He mostly sets his films with young female stars, and when he writes kids, he really shows he gets them, understanding them perfectly.
Case in point, My Neighbor Totoro is one of the first anime films most people see as kids, and it stars a pair of girls just like the target audience. They're nice and childlike without being unrealistic, and there's a real sense of wonder to the world they live in. It's a beautiful art film that has rightfully put itself on the map because it's simply GOOD. Read More »

Clumsy me, forgetting this blog like that! I just haven't posted in so long, and lack of routine does bad things to me. I hope this post makes up for it.
Here's a picture that's just too cute for words. Sakura seems to have no problems having Kero around, and he provides a nice artful cover. It's like she's having trouble deciding what to wear, and so she looks through her closet to find something good. Private looks into personal lives are always so fun to the audience for some reason, and this is no exception.

Looks like this time I didn't need to fill in the blanks! There's an episode of Billy and Mandy, "No Body Loves Grim", that starts on the beach. One of the things that happens is Mandy gets dragged by the bottom of her swimsuit by a dog, and we later see the dog has a piece of the swimsuit in its mouth. Clearly this is what we didn't see on TV, which is a shame because this stuff is just good. Plus it's nice to see Mandy get her comeuppance.

Today we're talking about something unique: A Disney film! Specifically, we're talking about the first in the Disney Renaissance, The Little Mermaid. Now, the movie went through a lot of production mishaps to try and make the film's main character Ariel look just right, believable yet family friendly. That meant giving her a bra made of seashells instead of featureless breasts shown in concept art.
Well, there's a moment in the movie where Ariel gets legs, and she isn't wearing anything down below because she's a mermaid and leg clothes don't exist in the deep. For the most part, she's hidden in shadow... but if you brighten up the lighting of the scene, you can see her shapely rear. This is portrayed as something completely natural and normal, a natural consequence of the change, not called attention to. Plus, Disney made this film to entice adults, too, so there was no point in denying that this kind of thing exists. Read More »

Today's role reversal is a little bit on the fun side. I'm reversing one of my own pictures!

Today's role reversal is a little bit on the fun side. I'm reversing one of my own pictures!
I already talked about the moment where Yumi got her outfit swiped by Ami. Well, in this version, shortly after Ami lightens up on her whole General of Cleanliness thing, Yumi swipes the outfit right off of her and tells her not to do the swipe clothes thing again. Fun stuff!
Of course, to get this commission, I had to wait several months after I paid for it. Krizeii got stuck in some personal traffic and found himself unable to complete the pic in a timely manner. However, he eventually got it done, and for that I'm glad. It's hard working with him sometimes, but he always provides in the end. He's a good guy.

I've wanted to cover this episode for so long... it even served as the first episode of this day's show on Tumblr! It's time once again to shame an animator who went out of their way to say No Girls Allowed!
Back to Dexter's Laboratory. If I feature this one a lot, it's only because I find Dee Dee to be really cute. There was an ample opportunity to give her a matching set with her brother, too! In the first two seasons (season 3 was handled by a newcomer and broke many of the established rules), whenever Dexter got nude, which happened a lot, he would always have his privates hidden by a leaf of some kind. This, I found, was really clever, giving it a sort of Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve sort of thing that showed off the creativity of the production staff. It also gave them a lot of freedom to position Dexter now that they didn't need to use outside censorship; all they needed was the leaf and they were set. Read More »

I had a bit of a tough time choosing today's pic. Fortunately, I have one now, and it's a cute one. It looks like this girl decided to save time on bathing her pet and herself and combine them into one. Giving animals a bath can be fun, and this one manages to combine it with a child in the bath which is always fun. Though, I'd be careful around that cat if I were you...

Shy boys are best boys, and that's what makes this picture so great. He's got a great expression, for one, with nice squinting eyes and a cute sheepish smile that says that things didn't quite go according to plan. Also, the fact that he has one leg lifted is just so adorable and adds to his embarrassment. Pics like this are prime reasons why we need more cute boy nudity in cartoons. Girls can't hog all of it!

We're back to Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi, since I just did a fanfic based on that show which you can find over on Inkbunny. I'll give it some illustrations later and maybe one day we can read along on the blog when the pictures are done.
Like I said before, I definitely believe the animators thought their versions of Ami and Yumi were sexy, given all the stuff they had them doing and wearing. Case in point, in two separate episodes, the girls (or at least Ami in the pictured episode "Helping Hand") step out of some kind of bath, and are seen wearing a towel. That towel goes up to their shoulders, meaning you can see everything above them is bare. It's actually kinda risque for a show that aired on Cartoon Network in 2005. Read More »

It's easy to plan the examples out when I've got the first two shows decided, and have done a "How Do We Do It" on the show already. Anyway, here we have Lisa Simpson in a rarely seen moment of embarrassment. It's got that pose like I was talking about last time, and a nice expression that shows this isn't a common situation for her. I post a lot of art like this that's hard to find and deleted. There's a reason the folder of stuff is called an "archive"!
